Knetzer leads Waynesburg to road PAC win

Senior forward drops 28 and 15 in 80-71 win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Jan. 13) – Senior forward Addy Knetzer paced a balanced Waynesburg attack that led to an 80-71 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory at Geneva on Saturday.

Knetzer set new team season highs in both points (28) and rebounds (15) as she recorded her seventh double-double of the season. Junior point guard Monica Starre logged a double-double of her own on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Mackenna Drazich just missed out on joining Knetzer and Starre after logging 12 points and nine rebounds of her own. Junior guard Julie Deklaven made it a quartet of double-digit scorers with a dozen of her own.

The first half turned out to be an intense 20 minutes on the court, as Geneva (4-11, 1-7) held a slim 35-34 edge at halftime. The game turned squarely in Waynesburg's (10-5, 6-2) favor early in the third quarter, thanks to an 18-4 run that gave the visiting Jackets a 52-38 lead.

The Orange and Black never looked back from that point on and built up leads as large as 16 points, before settling in for the nine-point victory. It was Waynesburg's fifth-straight road win.

The Jackets held a sizeable 52-34 advantage on the boards, including a 22-7 edge on the offensive glass. Waynesburg grabbed the win despite Geneva making nine more free throws (22-13).

Waynesburg returns to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Jan. 17, with a key PAC showdown against Washington & Jefferson. The third-place Jackets host the second-place Presidents at 5:30 p.m.
