WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 27) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team closed its 2018 schedule with a senior day showdown against Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington & Jefferson. Unfortunately, the Presidents spoiled the day's festivities by pulling out a 1-0 win at John F. Wiley Stadium.
After the two teams played to a scoreless halftime tie, W&J (9-7-2, 6-2) buried the day's only goal during the 58
th minute of action. The Jackets (7-7-2, 3-5) battled for the remainder of the contest, but were unable to find the back of the net and send the game into overtime.
Waynesburg managed to put five of its 10 total shots on goal. Five different Jackets put one shot on goal each on the afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper
Courtney Syfert, who will be graduating early and was part of the senior day festivities, was solid in her final collegiate game, stopping 10-of-11 shots on goal.
