CINCINNATI, Ohio (Nov. 24) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Ohio on Saturday to take part in the Mt. St. Joseph Tip-Off Classic. The Yellow Jackets fell 83-56 to the host team.
The Lions (1-2) led by just eight (38-30) at halftime, but pulled away in the final 20 minutes to secure their first win of the season. MSJ's noticeable advantage from long range played a major role in the win, as it knocked down 13-of-27 three-pointers, while limiting Waynesburg (1-3) to just six makes on 26 tries.
The home team also connected on 14-of-18 foul shots, while the Jackets made just four-of-six tries from the stripe. The Jackets suffered the loss despite out-rebounding their opponents by a 32-27 advantage, even though theywere without the services of 6-7 starting center

Junior wing
Brennan Smith (New Cumberland, W.Va. / Oak Glen) put together his best game of the season while setting team highs in both scoring (22) and rebounding (eight). He was nine-of-12 from the floor, including a three-for-four performance from three-point range.
Waynesburg will look to bounce back from Saturday's loss tomorrow when it faces North Park in day two of the Tip-Off Classic. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
