Jackets roll in game one, but drop game two to Bobcats

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 24) – The Waynesburg University softball team hosted Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets won the first game but dropped the second one to the Bobcats.

Waynesburg (7-7) started the opener with a bang as junior first baseman Alex Lawrence teed off on a three-run homer to open the scoring in the first inning. The Yellow Jacket lead jumped to 4-0 thank to an RBI single by sophomore Rachel Skon.

The Black and Orange added two more runs in the second to move ahead 6-0. Sophomore centerfielder Courtney Syfert scored on a wild pitch and Lawrence gathered her fourth RBI of the game as she singled to center to bring home junior left fielder Cat Allstatt.
