WAYNESBURG, Pa. (March 28) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team welcomed Thiel to John F. Wiley Stadium for an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) match on Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets scored first, but the Tomcats wound up with a 17-4 win.
Senior
Delaney Denniston opened the scoring just under four minutes into the contest with her first goal of the year. Unfortunately Thiel (2-4, 2-1) piled up the last 14 goals of the first half and first two of the second to build a 16-1 lead.
Waynesburg (0-3, 0-2) didn't give up on an improbable comeback, as it recorded three-straight goals to make the score 16-4. Denniston scored two more times before freshman
Breanna Martini recorded her first collegiate goal with 6:34 showing on the game clock. The Tomcats ended the scoring with 3:28 left in the match.
Sophomore
Christina Bauer started and played all 60 minutes in goal. She made seven saves on the evening.
The Jackets are back in action on Monday, April 2, when they travel to Hiram in a non-ORLC match. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
