WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 11) – The Wayneburg University men's tennis team hosted the defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions from Thomas More on Wednesday night. Though the 9-0 final score doesn't reflect it, the Yellow Jackets gave the Saints a respectable challenge.
Seniors
Andy Brunette and
Adam McKnight just missed out on a win at second doubles in a 9-7 contest with their opponents from Thomas More (8-3, 4-1). McKnight also came close to victory at number-four singles, where his match lasted the full three sets. Unfortunately, the Waynesburg (4-6, 1-3) veteran dropped a 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 heartbreaker in the flight.
Junior
Jonah Cooper also took his opponent to the limit at number-one singles, but couldn't quite pull out the win. Cooper dropped the contest 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Waynesburg continues on a grueling eight-day stretch in which it plays five matches tomorrow, when Grove City comes to town. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
