Waynesburg softball hosts Thomas More

Jackets drop both ends of PAC doubleheader

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 13) – The Waynesburg University softball team hosted Thomas More, the top team in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC), under warm sunny conditions on Friday. The Yellow Jackets were swept in the league doubleheader by the final scores of 9-2 and 15-0.

After falling behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning of game one, Waynesburg (10-12, 3-5) got back in the game with an RBI single by sophomore Cheyenne Wasko that made the score 4-1 in the second inning. Unfortunately, Thomas More (18-12, 10-0) bounced back with a four spot in the fourth to take control of the contest.

An error by Thomas More allowed the Jackets' final run of the day to score in the bottom of the fifth.

Junior Courtney Messenger started and suffered the lost after working 3.1 innings in the circle.

Game two saw the Saints take a 2-0 advantage in the first inning, before adding 10 runs in the second. Thomas More closed out the scoring with a three-spot in the fourth.

After freshman Emma Kubalak started and took the loss following 1.2 innings in the circle, sophomore Taylor Staley worked the final 3.1 frames of the five-inning loss.

The Jackets are back in action tomorrow with another home PAC doubleheader. Waynesburg tangles with Thiel starting at 3 p.m.
