WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 14) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team returned to Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Friday evening by welcoming Grove City to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The Yellow Jackets fell 3-0 to the Wolverines.
Grove City (2-7, 2-1) opened the match with a 25-15 win in set one, before taking set two 25-20. The Jackets (1-10, 0-3) were in position to push the contest to a fourth set by playing to a 23-23 tie. However, the visitors scored the final two points to pull out a 25-23 victory and complete the sweep.
Senior
Jordyn Wyllie led the Jackets with a team-high nine kills. Senior
Lexy Waldman and freshman
Hannah Buhr chipped in seven successful attacks each. Waldman also tied for the match lead with three blocks.
Juniors
Alyssa Proper and
Olivia Zuchelli helped out the offense with 13 and nine assists, respectively. Proper chipped in nine digs on defense, just one behind senior
Cassidy Guiser's team-leading 10 digs.
Waynesburg is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 19, when it travels to Westminster for another conference tilt. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
