WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 4) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Marietta on Tuesday night in its first home game of the 2018 season. The Yellow Jackets survived a 20-shot barrage from the visiting Pioneers to stay undefeated on the young year following a 2-1 victory.
With its latest, triumph, Waynesburg began a season 3-0 for the first time since 2014. The loss dropped Marietta to 1-2.

The score remained tied at 1-1 as the game reached its halfway point. After setting up her team's first goal, Moyer scored the game winner during the 53
rd minute. She was able to bang a shot off the cross bar and into the netting from around 18 yards way from the opposing goalmouth.
After allowing their first goal of the fall, the Jackets made sure not to give up their second by shutting out Marietta over the entirety of period number two. Syfert recorded three of her five saves during that second half of play.
Though the Pioneers held a sizeable 20-nine advantage in total shots, the two teams were even in terms of shots on goal at six each. Marietta also attempted four corner kicks, while the Jackets tried just one from the flags. Waynesburg was also whistled at a much higher rate for its physical style of play. The Orange and Black committed 15 fouls to the Pioneers' six.
The Jackets are back in action at John F. Wiley Stadium on Friday when they play host to Franciscan. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
