Series Breakdown
All-Time Series: Waynesburg 32-19-5
First Meeting: 1903 (Waynesburg 17-5)
Last Meeting: 2018 (Grove City 28-3)

Waynesburg pits its nationally ranked pass defense against a potent Grove City aerial assault on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are not only tops in the PAC with 99.3 yards per game given up through the air, but that average is good for second in all of Division III. The Wolverines are fourth in the league at 214.7 yards per game passing.

Grove City quarterback Josh Ehst has the luxury of two of the top pass catchers in the league in junior wide receivers Cameron Drake and Cody Gustafson. Drake ranks first in the PAC with 112.2 yards per game, while Gustafson comes in at number four with 90.8 ypg. They also rank one-two in the league in yards per catch. Drake is ripping off 21.1 yards per catch, while Drake is right behind him at 19.5. The duo has combined for nine touchdowns.

Perhaps the two most important individuals in Waynesburg's quest to ground Drake and Gustafson are senior defensive backs VaShon Graham (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Catholic) and Brennan Sefick (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Catholic). Graham ranks second in the PAC amongst defensive backs and eighth overall with 48 total tackles. He's also broken up six passes and intercepted a seventh. Sefick has a Waynesburg-best two interceptions, has broken up four passes and has found his way into the opposing backfield with three tackles for loss.

While the Wolverines have excelled on offense, their defense comes in giving up 409.2 yards per game. Perhaps that will be just the thing to kick-start a Yellow Jacket offense averaging just 234.0 yards and 13.7 points per contest.

Unfortunately, along with Grove City's big-play pass ability, the Yellow Jackets must also find a way to slow down the PAC's leading rusher, Wolverine senior Wesley Schools. Schools not only leads the league with 837 yards (139.5 ypg) and 11 touchdowns on the ground, but he ranks second in total yards rushing, fifth in rushing yards per game and third in rushing scores in all of Division III.

One man that will do all he can to slow Schools is the league's leading tackler, Waynesburg senior linebacker Tyler Smith (Poland, Ohio / Poland). Smith is averaging 10.5 tackles per game, which is good for 31st in Division III. He also leads the Yellow Jackets and ranks fifth in the PAC with 8.0 tackles for loss.
