UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (Nov. 24) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team went 2-1 during Sunday's John Carroll Duals. The Yellow Jackets scored double-digit wins over Pitt-Bradford and Penn State Behrend, before falling 25-14 to the host Blue Streaks.
Waynesburg (3-3) opened the day with a 36-19 victory over Bradford (0-6). The Jackets were aided by five forfeits, four of which came in the opening five weight, allowing them to build a 30-4 advantage at the midway point of the match. Senior
Zach Mackall (Austintown, Ohio / Austintown-Fitch) won by fall in 1:21 at 165 pounds.
The Jackets improved to 2-0 on the day with a 44-7 rout of Penn State Behrend (0-8). After falling behind 4-0, Waynesburg took a 12-4 advantage with forfeits at 133 and 141 pounds. Junior
Josh Kuslock (Hickory, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) pulled out a 5-3 win at 149 pounds, before freshman
Jace Guy (Bloomington, Md. / Southern Garrett) added a 15-0 technical fall at 157 pounds.

Dillion Charlton (Stoystown, Pa. / North Star) picked up Waynesburg's fastest pin of the trip at 184, doing so in 34 seconds. Another forfeit made the score 38-7 after 197 pounds and freshman heavyweight
Rocky McGeary (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) closed things out with a fall in 5:53.
Despite Waynesburg falling behind 25-0 against John Carroll (7-2), the Yellow Jackets battled over the first seven bouts, giving up three decisions by three points or less, another that was decided on a questionable last-second call and a fifth that was by four points. Waynesburg ended the day on a high note with three-straight wins over JCU. Charlton gritted out a 9-7 decision at 184 pounds, before Rigney picked up another forfeit. McGeary ended the match by rolling to an 18-3 technical fall.
Waynesburg is off until Dec. 6 when it competes in the two-day Messiah Petrofes Invitational. Start time on day one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
