WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Nov. 2) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team gave senior
Alyssa Proper (Titusville, Pa. / Maplewood) the best gift possible after honoring her during a pre-match senior day ceremony. The Yellow Jackets wrapped up the 2019 campaign by earning a 3-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over Washington & Jefferson on Saturday.
Waynesburg (4-23, 1-15) got things going with a 25-22 win in set one. W&J (4-23, 3-13) rebounded to take set two 25-18. The Yellow Jackets would not be denied victory on the season's final day, as they logged back-to-back 25-22 triumphs in sets three and four to end the year on a high note.
Sophomore
Hannah Buhr (Jefferson, Md. / Brunswick) put together a big day on the court with a match-high 19 kills. Junior
Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) posted a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs. Junior
Mya Brooks (Lansing, Mich. / Holt) added 14 kills of her own to the winning effort.
Proper played a major role in the victory with a match-best 30 assists. Junior
Alexis Phillips (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum) added 18 helpers to the Jacket offense.
Sophomore Alyson Jonson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) paced the Waynesburg defense once again, this time racking up 34 digs.
