GROVE CITY, Pa. (April 9) – The Waynesburg men's tennis team traveled to Grove City to take on the Wolverines in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Tuesday afternoon. Despite hanging in most of the flights against the number one team in the PAC, the Yellow Jackets fell 8-1.

At first doubles, the senior combination of
Jonah Cooper (Beaver Falls, Pa./Beaver County Christian) and
Josh Denham (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) found themselves in a 7-3 hole before battling back to cut the deficit to 7-6. Grove City (7-6, 4-0) managed to win the next game though to fend off the comeback and win 8-6.

The Yellow Jackets (6-4, 2-2) lone win of the day came at second doubles, as freshmen
Joe English (Smithfield, Pa./Homeschooled) and Connor Cassidy (Huntingtown, Md. Huntingtown) teamed up to win 8-5. Waynesburg dropped the third doubles match 8-4.

At first singles, Cooper dropped both matches 6-2, 6-3. Denham kept things extremely close in second singles, but fell just short 7-5, 7-6. Cassidy also managed to keep things manageable at fourth singles but came out on the wrong end of both matches 6-4, 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action Thursday evening as they travel to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to take on the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva at 6 p.m.
