BETHANY, W.Va.. (April 6) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team hit the road on Saturday for its first contest away from John F. Wiley Stadium since March 12. The Yellow Jackets faced off with Bethany in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match and came away with a 14-5 loss.
The Bison (3-6, 1-0) opened up a 4-0 lead after six minutes of play. However, Waynesburg (0-9, 0-2) sophomore
Breanna Martini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) by registering a natural hat trick over a 10-minute span. The last of the three goals came with 4:35 remaining in the first half and cut the Bethany lead to 4-3.
The Bison responded with two more goals before halftime to take a 6-3 advantage into the break.
Bethany carried its momentum into the second half and scored the first five goals of the period to go up 11-3. Martini scored two more times before the game's conclusion to tie her own team season high. She set game highs in both total shots (14) and shots on goal (13).

Jackie Adler (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) and freshman
Melissa Yoder (Belleville, Pa. / Belleville Mennonite) tied for the contest high with five ground balls.
Waynesburg matched Bethany with 25 shots on goal, but struggled in getting past the Bethany goalkeeper. Yellow Jacket keeper
Riley Yoder (Lancaster, Ohio / Fisher Catholic) tallied 11 saves in the setback.
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, April 9, when they head to Division II Ohio Valley. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
