WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 29) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Chatham Wednesday evening for a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup. Despite jumping out to 19-9 lead in the opening quarter, the Yellow Jackets were unable to keep pace with the Cougars over the final 30 minutes of action, falling 67-53.

Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) paced the Yellow Jackets (4-15, 3-7) in both points (19) and rebounds (10), recording her sixth double-double of the year. She finished the game nine-of-11 from the field. Senior guard
Alli DeLaney (Belmont, Ohio / Union Local) added 16 points, making six-of-nine field goals, including three-of-six from three-point range.
The two teams found themselves tied up at nine with 3:15 remaining in the opening quarter before Waynesburg went on a 10-0 run to end the first 10 minutes, putting them up 19-9. The Yellow Jackets continued to build the lead early in the second quarter, extending the advantage to 22-9.
Chatham (12-6, 5-5) slowly chipped away at the Waynesburg lead, cutting the Yellow Jacket advantage to 27-24 with 4:15 left in the first half. Waynesburg continued to hold onto the lead until Chatham connected on a three-pointer to tie the game at 32-32 with 1:39 left in the second quarter.
DeLaney put Waynesburg back on top 35-32 by hitting a three-pointer, and Chatham made a layup in the waning seconds to bring the score to 35-34 in favor of Waynesburg at halftime.
Chatham got its first lead of the night with 8:14 remaining in the third quarter, going up 42-39. The Yellow Jackets tied things back up at 45-45 with just over six minutes left in the period, but the Cougars went on a 12-2 run to finish out the third and take the lead back for good.
Waynesburg was outscored 10-6 over the final 10 minutes of action, bringing the game to its 67-53 final score.
The Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, to take on Westminster in a PAC matchup. Start time is set for 1:30 p.m.
