Jacket women roll past Geneva

Waynesburg offense explodes in 93-58 win over Golden Tornadoes

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb. 5) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Geneva for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown on Wednesday night. The Yellow Jacket offense was hitting on all cylinders from the opening tipoff and led the way to a 93-58 win.

Though Waynesburg (5-16, 4-8) wound up pulling away for a 25-point victory, Geneva (2-16, 1-10) stayed right with the host school over the first quarter of play and trailed by just four points going into the second period. It was at that point that the Jackets put some distance between themselves and the Golden Tornadoes, outscoring them 18-5 and taking a 44-27 advantage into halftime.

Waynesburg didn't let up, as it outdid the GT's 24-14 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Geneva's only lead in the contest came with scoring of the opening basket. The Jackets answered with an 8-2 spurt and never looked back on their way to victory.

Junior Andrea Orlosky (Shelocta, Pa. / West Shamokin) filled up the scoresheet to the tune of 25 points, 13 rebounds and four steals, all of which were team highs. Orlosky shot 10-of-15 from the floor and grabbed four offensive rebounds in one of her best showings of the year.

While Orlosky was lighting up the scoreboard from inside the three-point line, senior guard Alli Delaney (Belmont, Ohio / Union Local) was tearing things up from beyond it. Delaney connected on an impressive six-of-11 three-point attempts while tallying 22 points. It was her third 20-plus point game of the year.

Sophomore center Brooke Fuller (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) continued to be her usual reliable self with 16 points and seven rebounds on seven-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Waynesburg's passing game and efficiency in breaking the Geneva press led to an impressive 23 assists on 33 field goals. Geneva, on the other hand, posted just two helpers. The Jacket defense also forced 23 turnovers and held the GT's to 23-of-87 shooting from the floor and a three-for-33 effort from three-point range.

The Jackets are off for a week before returning to PAC play on Wednesday, Feb. 12, with a road trip to Washington & Jefferson. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
