WAYNESBURG, PA. (March 10) – The Wayneburg University women's lacrosse team played its first game since Feb. 23 when it hosted Muskingum on a cold, rainy Tuesday evening. The Yellow Jackets fell 17-3 to the Muskies.
Muskingum (3-3) tallied the first five goals of the game before freshman
Katie Trombetta (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) scored on a breakaway to put the Yellow Jackets (1-1) on the board. Fellow freshman
Alexis Shandor (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) set up the tally. Unfortunately, that was the last time the Jackets found the back of the net before halftime. Muskingum went into the break with a 9-1 advantage.
The visiting team expanded its lead to 13-1 with 18:58 remaining in the contest. Waynesburg answered with back-to-back goals from freshman
Hannah Rosenberger (Bruceton Mills, W.Va. / Preston) and Trombetta. Senior
Jackie Adler (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) assisted on the Jackets' final score of the day.
Sophomore
Kayla Bochter (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) piled up a personal collegiate-best 15 saves on the night.
Waynesburg is back in action on Sunday, March 22, when it hosts Hilbert. Start time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
