WAYNESBURG, Pa. (May 14) – Senior
Mason Miller (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) was recently honored by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for his work in the classroom and on the pitcher's mound. The model student-athlete was recognized as a first-team NCAA Division III Academic All-District selection.
Always a productive contributor to the Yellow Jackets, Miller exploded as a junior and led the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) in every major statistical pitching category in 2019, most by a sizeable margin. His 1.86 ERA was nearly 0.8 lower than second place, while his 97 strikeouts were 16 more than the hurler who held the number-two spot. Miller's .173 batting average against was 18 points better than the individual in second place. He also put together an 8-2 record and was a two-time PAC Pitcher of the Week.
Following his third year with the Jackets, Miller was named first-team All-PAC, first-team Mideast All-American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) / Rawlings Region and second-team All-Mideast Region by D3Baseball.com.
Miller was well on his way to another standout campaign in 2020. He was 2-0 over two complete-game starts with a PAC-leading 24 strikeouts. He boasted a 2.57 ERA and a .160 opposing batting average. The ace righty was named the first PAC Pitcher of the Week for the 2020 season.
In the classroom, Miller was a three-time member of the PAC Spring Academic Honor Roll and boasted a 3.91 cumulative GPA. He recently completed his undergraduate degree in Finance.
