WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 15) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team hosted Muskingum on Wednesday night for a non-conference dual with the Muskies. After falling into a deep early hole, the Yellow Jackets battled back in the second half of the contest. Unfortunately, the home team came up just short of completing the comeback and fell 22-19.

A forfeit at 125 pounds gave the Muskies (2-1) an early 6-0 lead, but freshman Damion Finnegan (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) cut the deficit in half thanks to a hard-fought 9-8 decision at 133. Back-to-back victories at 141 and 149 pounds allowed the visitors to build a 15-3 advantage heading into 157 pounds. Waynesburg (1-4) freshman Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) closed the first half of the match with an 8-6 triumph.

The second half of the contest saw Muskingum log a major decision at 165 that made the score 19-6. A pair of wins from freshman two-sport athletes (football) made things much more interesting for the Orange and Black. Riley Bosley (Uniontown, Pa. / Laurel Highlands) pinned his opponent at 174 and was followed by classmate Brennan Boron (St. Mary's, W.Va. / St. Mary's) who pulled out a 5-2 decision at 184 pounds.

The contest came down to the bout at 197 pounds. First-year junior Justice McCamick (St. Clairsville, Ohio, St. Clairsville) took his opponent right down to the wire in his first collegiate match, but came up just short in a 3-2 battle. Though the match was already decided, junior Rocky McGeary (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) ended the night on a high note by rolling to a 13-1 major decision triumph at heavyweight.

Waynesburg is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 18, when it travels all the way to Nashville, Tennessee, for the Gator "Boots" Duals.
