A Look Inside the Hive
Waynesburg tips off the 2020-21 season with back-to-back road games, the first of which sees them heading to the defending PAC champions from Grove City. The Yellow Jackets will lean on the stellar front court duo of junior center
Brooke Fuller and senior guard/forward
Andrea Orlosky. Both veterans have been honored as second-team all-conference selections and PAC Players of the Week. Last year, they combined to average 27.2 points and 16.5 rebounds per contest. Sophomore
Anika Dansby is also back after starting every game at point guard during her freshman campaign and will once again be handed the keys to the offense. Senior
Elena McDermott and junior
Kacey Kastroll, who were two of the team's top contributors off the bench last winter, could be inline for a promotion to the starting lineup. Four newcomers will be counted upon to play crucial minutes as reserves and push for starts.
Scouting the Wolverines
The 2020-21 Grove City women's basketball squad has a tough act to follow after the 2019-20 version set a program record with 25 victories (25-3) and won its first conference title since 1987. However, with four starters back from that outstanding squad, nothing short of a second-straight crown will be considered a successful year. Senior guard Jess Bowen is back to lead this year's Wolverines after earning first-team All-PAC laurels. Fellow seniors Sedona Campbell and Jordan McConnell combined to start 55 of 56 games between of the two of them and combine with Bowen to create one of the top senior trios in the league. Junior Allison Podkul also returns after a full season as a starter. This elevated level of experience and production has Grove City looking to put together a sixth-straight winning season.
