WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 12) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team celebrated senior night on Monday, when it hosted Saint Vincent for a match in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) consolation tournament. The 2020-21 season came to end for the Yellow Jackets, who fell 3-0 to the visiting Bearcats.
Saint Vincent (3-7) downed Waynesburg (2-10) by the set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-22.
After being honored for senior night,
Hannah Colvin (Hagerstown, Md. / Grace Academy) put down a team-high seven kills to pace the Orange and Black offense. She also tacked on two blocks and finished second on the squad with 12 digs.
Sophomore
Kayla Stohon (Summerhill, Pa. / Forest Hills) added six successful attacks of her own.
Senior
Alexis Phillips (New Kensington, Pa. / Plum), the night's other senior honoree, helped out the Jacket attack with a team-best 14 assists.
Waynesburg's defensive efforts were paced by junior
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic), who logged a contest-best 19 digs. Johnson currently leads the PAC with a 6.11 digs per set average.
