WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 13) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team hosted Bethany for a Tuesday afternoon Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Yellow Jackets rolled to their first win of the season by an 8-1 final score.
 
Junior 
Alyson Johnson (Raceland, Ky. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) made a major impact in her first match of the season. After teaming up with sophomore 
Hayley Sweeney (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland) to cut out an 8-6 win at second doubles, Johnson improved to 2-0 on the day with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at number-two singles.
 
Johnson, joined the Jackets after playing in her final volleyball match of the season on Monday night. Johnson wrapped up the volleyball season as the PAC leader in digs per set.
 
The home team got off to a strong start by sweeping all three doubles flights. Junior 
Kyleigh Schmidt (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) and sophomore 
Madison Trent (Shanksville, Pa. / Shanksville-Stony Creek) teamed up for an 8-2 victory at number-one doubles. The duo of senior 
Katie Dollard (Bradfordwoods, Pa. / North Allegheny) and sophomore 
Marina Hastings completed the sweep with an 8-0 blanking of the opposition.
 
Trent, Sweeney, Dollard and Hastings all completed 2-0 days with straight-set wins in their respective singles flights.
 
The Jackets are back in action on Friday, April 16, when they host Geneva for the final home match of the year. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
