GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 18) – The Waynesburg University baseball team traveled to Thiel for a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, runs were hard to come by for the Yellow Jackets, who were swept by the final scores of 5-1 and 6-1.
Waynesburg (6-16, 4-15) posted six hits in each of the two contests. Seniors
Ryan Mills (Westminster, Md. / Westminster), John Przybylinsiki (Connellsville, Pa. / Connellsville) and
Brandon Durbin (Cresson, Pa. / Bishop Carroll) all recorded multiple hits over the twin bill.
Though it didn't lead to a win, junior pitcher
Joe Sabolek (Lynnwood-Pricedale, Pa. / Belle Vernon) posted another solid pitching performance, but wasn't able to get a win for his troubles. In game one, Sabolek suffered the loss on the mound after allowing three runs, all earned, on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts over five innings of work.
The Jackets will look to get on the winning track when they travel to Chatham for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
