LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 11) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule at Saturday's Saint Vincent Invitational. The Yellow Jackets opened the day with a 6-3 loss to the host Bearcats, but bounced back with a 5-4 victory over Penn State Altoona.
The Jackets (1-1) were led by graduate student
Conor Cassidy (Huntingtown, Md. / Huntingtown) and sophomore
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown), who both posted 3-1 records over the two matches. Cassidy went a perfect 2-0 at second singles and added a 1-1 mark at second doubles, where he teamed up with freshman teammate Rory Montrevil.
Lown claimed victory in both of his contests at third singles. He posted a 1-1 mark at first doubles, where he teamed with senior teammate
Joey English (Smithfield, Pa. / Homeschooled).

Shane Hughes also earned a win at sixth singles against Penn State Altoona (0-1). Sophomore
Justin North (Plum, Pa. / Plum) and sophomore
Adam Huckstein (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) teamed up to roll to an 8-2 triumph at third doubles against Altoona.
Waynesburg returns to the courts on Tuesday, Sept. 21, with a road trip to Geneva. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
