Headlee honored prior to PAC match

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 20) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team opened Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) competition on Thursday night by hosting Washington & Jefferson. Following an emotional tribute to head coach Ron Headlee, who will be retiring at the end of the season, the Yellow Jackets dropped a 43-9 defeat to the Presidents.
 
Waynesburg (2-7, 0-1) picked up victories at 157 and 285 pounds. Freshman Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) picked up his first PAC win by way of a 7-2 decision to put the Jackets on the board. Junior Rocky McGeary (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) ended a tough night for his team on a high note with a first-period pin.

The Jackets are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 22, when they participate in the Dr. Si Ostrach Meet, which is hosted by Case Western Reserve. Waynesburg is scheduled to face the host Spartans and Defiance. Action is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
