WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 5) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team made its fall debut on Wednesday with a non-conference match against fellow Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) member Geneva. The Yellow Jackets were defeated 8-1 by the Golden Tornadoes.
Junior
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown) picked up his first victory of the year by winning a thriller at first singles. After gritting out a 7-6 win in set one, he completed the straight-set triumph by downing the opposition 6-4.
Lown nearly posted a 2-0 day thanks to his work at first doubles. He teamed with sophomore
Adam Huckstein (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) and the pair took the opposition right down to the wire, before coming up just short of victory in an 8-7 contest.
