Jacket women host UPG for non-PAC contest

Waynesburg falls to visiting Bobcats

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Dec. 8) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Pitt Greensburg for a non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on Thursday night. The Yellow Jackets fell 59-42 to the visiting Bobcats.

After a basket from Waynesburg (0-8) senior guard Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Massilon) opened the scoring, Pitt Greensburg (3-5) responded by tallying the next six points on a pair of three pointers. The visitors never trailed from that point forward as the game played itself out.

A three pointer by junior guard Avery Robinson (Ravenna, Ohio / Ravenna) pulled the Jackets to within one point (6-5) of tying the score, but the Bobcats countered with the next four to move ahead 10-5. They scored six of the quarter's final eight points to take a 16-8 advantage into the second quarter. The eventual victors stretched their lead to 20-18 at halftime and closed out their third-straight win over the final 20 minutes.

Both teams were busy on the glass, as Waynesburg finished with a slight 61-58 edge in rebounding. Freshman Emma Seto (Allison, Pa. / Brownsville) yanked down a game-high 14 boards, including nine of the offensive variety. Classmate Tori Wesolowski (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) nearly reached double digits as well with nine rebounds.

Robinson led the Jacket offense with a team-high 15 points. Junior Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) contributed 10 points and swiped a game-high four steals. Wolf logged seven of her team's nine made free throws on a seven-of-eight showing at the stripe.

Waynesburg returns to PAC play on Saturday when it hosts Geneva for a 1 p.m. matchup.
