GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 2) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled north to Thiel for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match against the Tomcats. The Yellow Jackets fell by the final score of 22-5.
Waynesburg (0-5, 0-2) trailed 12-0 at halftime and were down 16-0 in the third quarter, before junior
Tori Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) posted back-to-back goals for the visitors. Junior
Rachel Caldwell (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley) added two scores of her own, including the final goal of the evening. Junior
Eve O'Sullivan (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) also found the back of the net.
Meiklejohn paced her team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while O'Sullivan led Waynesburg with seven draw controls.
Speaking of the net, freshman goalkeeper
Anna Bradley (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) played all 90 minutes for the Jackets and tallied 11 saves.
Waynesburg returns home on Monday for another PAC matchup, this one coming against Saint Vincent. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
