Women's lacrosse wraps up 2022 season

O'Sullivan hat trick not enough against Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (April 30) – The Waynesburg University women's lacrosse team traveled to Westminster on Saturday for its season finale against the Titans. The Yellow Jackets dropped the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) contest by the final score of 17-6.

The game started out as a tightly contested battle thanks in large part to the efforts of Waynesburg (0-12, 0-8) junior Eve O'Sullivan (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe). The Jackets trailed by just one goal (4-3) after O'Sullivan put together a hat trick after just 6:22 of play.

Westminster (3-9, 1-7) took control of the game with three-straight tallies that made the score 7-3. Junior Rachel Caldwell (Ligonier, Pa. / Ligonier Valley) broke up the run with the final goal of the first quarter.

A four-goal run by the Titans extended the home team's lead to 11-4 4:13 into the second quarter. Junior Tori Meiklejohn (Boonsboro, Md. / Boonsboro) split the pipes with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half to make the score 11-5. Roughly six minutes later, Meiklejohn scored again, which was the final goal of the game for the visitors.

By the time halftime came around, Waynesburg trailed 14-6. Westminster sealed the win up with a trio of scores in the second half.

Caldwell recorded Waynesburg's final assist of the season, while senior Grace Zablosky (Finksburg, Md. / Carroll Christian School) ended her collegiate playing career with a game-high five groundballs. Zablosky also posted a team-best two caused turnovers.

Freshman goalkeeper Anna Bradley (Bridgeville, Pa. / South Fayette) logged four saves over 60 minutes in play. Thanks to the complete-game effort, Bradley completed a 2022 campaign that saw her play every minute in net.
