STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 27) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Franciscan on Tuesday night in a road non-President's Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup at Steubenville Big Red High School.
After falling 25-11 in set one, Waynesburg (2-12) showed marked improvement in the next two sets. Unfortunately, Franciscan (6-5) eked out wins in both sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-22, respectively.
Seniors
Kayla Stohon (Summerhill, Pa. / Forest Hills) and
Alexys Marsh (Panama, N.Y. / Panama Central) led the Yellow Jackets with six kills each. Stohon also put up match highs in solo blocks (two) and total blocks (five).
Sophomore
Jordan Stein (Manor, Pa. / Norwin) had a team-high 20 digs in the losing effort. Junior
Mickayla Baniaga (Kalihi, Hawaii / Kamehameha Schools Kapalama) added 19 digs for the visitors to go along with five kills.
Freshman
Riley Ruffley (Bedford, Pa. / Bedford) posted a double-double with 12 digs and a team-high 20 assists. She also had two kills for the Jackets.
Waynesburg will be in action again on Thursday as Washington and Jefferson comes to The Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse for the Jackets' final non-conference match of the season. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
