WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 25) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team hosted Saint Vincent on Wednesday night in a President's Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. The Yellow Jackets' (2-16, 2-11 PAC) upset effort fell short as the Bearcats (14-3, 12-2 PAC) walked away with an 81-49 victory.
The Yellow Jackets started strong defensively, limiting the Bearcats' to an 8-2 lead at the midway point of the opening period. Saint Vincent gained its offensive footing after being stymied early and led 23-9 after the first period and 43-22 at halftime.
Junior
Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) notched five of the Jackets' nine first-quarter points. She finished the contest with 10 points, five of which came from the free-throw line, a team high-tying seven rebounds and two assists.
Senior
Anika Dansby (Massilon, Ohio / Washington) posted a team-high 13 points on five-of-13 shooting from the field (two-of-four from beyond the arc) to go along with seven boards. Dansby's defensive presence was also felt in the game as she drew two offensive fouls.
Freshman
Emma Seto (Allison, Pa. / Brownsville) added seven points for the Jackets on three-of-seven shooting from the field. She added seven rebounds, four of which came on the offensive end of the court, and two helpers.
The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood next Monday when they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania, to take on the Thiel Tomcats. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
