WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 27) – The Waynesburg University wrestling team hosted Thiel on Friday night for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup. The Tomcats claimed victory in the first six bouts of the night, as they left the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse with a 38-8 win.
 
Thiel (9-2, 2-0) built a 21-0 lead after five weight classes. During the intermission, the Yellow Jackets (0-13, 0-2) were honored to recognize a group of wrestling alumni who had gathered for the evening.
 
When action resumed, Thiel extended its advantage to 26-0 at 165 pounds. Undefeated junior Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) broke up the shutout and improved to 18-0 on the year with a 10-0 major decision.
 
Sophomore Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) made it two-straight victories by nailing down his own major decision (14-6) at 184 pounds.
 
Thiel ended the match with wins at 197 and 285 pounds.
 
The evening ended on a high not for the Jackets, as senior Luke Lavanway (Monroe, Mich. / Mason) earned an 8-4 decision win in an extra bout.
 
Waynesburg concludes its regular season on Saturday, Feb. 4, when it competes in the Messiah Open. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m.
