Women's soccer scores non-PAC win over LBC

Big second half leads to 3-1 triumph over Chargers

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 21) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team hosted Lancaster Bible College for its final non-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game of 2023. After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, the Yellow Jackets rebounded with three goals in the second half to earn a 3-1 victory.

The Chargers (9-5-2) opened the scoring midway through the 11th minute and maintained their advantage until halftime. Lancaster Bible looked like they were going to leave town with a win as it maintained its edge through 71 minutes of action.

However, junior Demaree Livingston (Willow Grove, Pa. / Upper Dublin) tied the game up with just 18:23 left to play on the evening. Senior Kate James (Silver Spring, Md. / St. John's College H.S.) logged her PAC-leading 10th assist on the equalizer.

Livingston wasn't done yet, as she added the game winner less than three minutes later. Sophomore Isabella Holland (Burlington, Ontario / Assumption Catholic Secondary) set up the score with her first assist and point of the season.

The Jackets put the finishing touches on the win, when Livingston was fouled inside of the 18-yard box. Sophomore Reagan Mittendorf (Bluffton, Ohio / Bluffton) not only took the penalty kick for Waynesburg, but deposited in the back of the net for an insurance goal in the 76th minute.

Freshman Emily Beck (West Mifflin, Pa / West Mifflin) was solid in goal and earned the victory after stopping seven-of-eight shots on goal over 90 minutes of work.

Waynesburg outshot LBC by a sizeable 28-16 margin and nearly doubled up the opposition in shots on goal (15-8).

The Jackets wrap up the 2023 regular season on Tuesday, when they head to Geneva for a PAC showdown that will likely have major ramifications for the upcoming PAC tournament. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
