WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 7) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team celebrated alumni day by welcoming back more than a dozen former Yellow Jackets to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match against Bethany. Unfortunately, it was the Bison who left town with a 3-0 win.
Bethany (12-5, 1-1) took the match by the set scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-17.
Waynesburg (7-10, 0-2) was led by sophomore
Paige Mortimore (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Brentwood), who put down a team-high eight kills. Junior
Emma Hyatt (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels) added seven kills, while freshman
Kristina Zadrozny (McDonald, Pa. / West Allegheny) chipped in six. Freshman
Kendall Ellsworth (Carmichaels, Pa. / Carmichaels) and sophomore
Riley Ruffley (Bedford, Pa. / Bedford helped out the offense with 12 assists each.
Waynesburg was led defensively by junior
Jordan Stein (Manor, Pa. / Norwin), who recorded a match-high 12 digs. Mortimore chipped in 10 of her own.
The Jackets are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Westminster for another PAC contest. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
