NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Nov. 21) – The Waynesburg University men's basketball team traveled to Westminster on Tuesday and found itself in a nail-biting Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) battle. The Yellow Jackets led by six with just under two minutes left to play, but the Titans rallied to send the game into overtime, where a buzzer-beating three-pointer by the home team stole a win away from the Jackets by the final score of 67-66.

Westminster (2-3, 1-2) led 48-47 with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation. Waynesburg (3-2, 1-1) grabbed a three-point lead thanks to back-to-back field goals by junior
Jaylen Davis (Cleveland Heights, Ohio / Cleveland Heights) and senior
Bryson Wilt (Oakland, Md. / Southern Garrett).

A short time later, the Jackets were clinging to a 54-53 edge, but appeared to finally take control of the contest thanks to a pair of Davis free throws and a three pointer by senior
Jansen Knotts (Ridgeley, W.Va. / Frankfort). With 2:56 showing on the clock, Waynesburg held a 59-53 lead. However, the home team cut the advantage with one trey and tied it 41 seconds later on another make from long distance.

A block followed by a defensive rebound with roughly 30 seconds left in the second half gave Westminster the ball back, but the Titans misfired on a potential game winner with six seconds remaining in regulation. The Jackets' last-second shot at victory was also off target and the contest moved into overtime.

Once again, the Orange and Black looked poised to pick up its first win over Westminster since 2018, as it built a four-point lead with just 12 seconds left in overtime. Unfortunately, Waynesburg proved to be its own worst enemy as a basket by the Titans with five seconds remaining in the period was followed by a Jacket turnover that set up the game-winning shot.

Westminster led 31-26 at halftime, and built leads as large as 10 points in the second period before the Jackets battled back in the latter parts of the contest.

Davis had arguably his best game as a Jacket by posting his first double-double in Orange and Black. He poured in a team-high 17 points on five-of-10 shooting from the floor and a seven-for-nine effort from the foul line, while also grabbing a contest-best 14 rebounds and swatting three blocks.

Senior forward
Antone Baker (Maple Heights, Ohio / Maple Heights) logged his second-straight double-double on 13 points on 14 boards. Wilt and junior
PJ Suggs (Twinsburg, Ohio / Twinsburg) chipped in nine points each.

Waynesburg will try to erase the disappointment of Tuesday's loss before returning to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse to host Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
