EBENSBURG, Pa. (March 25) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Saturday, March 25, with a road trip to Mount Aloysius. Though the Yellow Jackets fell 8-1, the match was a hotly contested one.
Waynesburg (0-3) picked up its lone win of the day when junior
Justin North (Plum, Pa. / Plum) and senior
Michael Saliba (New Kensington, Pa. / Valley) teamed up to down their opponents at second doubles 8-4.
Juniors
Adam Huckstein (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) and
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown) put together a solid showing at first doubles before falling 8-5.
Moving to singles competition, Saliba gave his opponent all he could handle in a 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) match at the number-two flight. North came up just shy of taking the first set of his contest at the number-five flight, which went 7-5, 6-1.
The Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, March 28, when they host Allegheny for their first Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match of the season. Start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
