WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 21) – The Waynesburg University men's tennis team hosted Thiel on a gorgeous Friday afternoon for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Tomcats 6-3 to wrap up the regular season schedule.
Waynesburg (1-10, 1-7) was led by a trio of 2-0 performers, two of which were honored during the pre-match senior day ceremony.
Michael Saliba (New Kensington, Pa. / Valle) teamed with junior
Ethan Lown (Lebanon, Pa. / Elizabethtown) to earn an 8-2 win at first doubles. Saliba followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at number-three singles.
Trevor Kotchman (California, Pa. / California) picked up two wins by forfeit.
Lown joined his older teammates as a two-match winner by downing the opposition at first singles 6-1, 6-2.
Junior
Justin North (Plum, Pa. / Plum) was victorious at number-four singles in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). North was also honored before the match. As a marine biology major, he has completed his three years of study at Waynesburg and will finish his degree at Coastal Carolina University.
