WAYNESBURG, Pa. (July 1) – The Waynesburg University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the promotion of Erin Leaver to the position of head athletic trainer. The move is a well-deserved one, as Leaver has proven herself as an essential member of the Yellow Jacket athletic family over the past nine years as an assistant athletic trainer.
"Erin's dedication, hard work and valuable contributions to the athletic department have been instrumental in our continued effort to offer optimal healthcare to our student-athletes," said Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Andy Palko. "Throughout her time at Waynesburg, she has consistently exhibited a passion for providing high quality healthcare services and improving patient outcomes. Her unwavering commitment to delivering compassionate care has made a significant impact on the lives of the patients she has served."
Prior to coming to Waynesburg, Leaver earned a Master's of Science Degree in Athletic Training from California University (Pa.). She arrived at Cal after completing a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. A western Pennsylvania native, Leaver graduated from Hampton High School in 2009. She was an accomplished athlete, earning a total of seven varsity letters while competing for the Talbots.
"My greatest hope is that this move is a reflection of the quality of care I have provided to every student-athlete who has walked through our clinic. My number one priority has always been to serve every patient I encounter with the highest quality of care, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual," Leaver said. "Overall, I'm just grateful to the many people whom I've worked with over my time. They've all helped me to grow as a clinician, professional and leader. I would be remiss to not extend my thanks to Dr. Palko, who has been my greatest support. I look forward to continuing to work alongside him."
