Volleyball hosts La Roche for non-PAC match

Yellow Jackets take opening set, but fall 3-1 to Redhawks

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 12) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team welcomed La Roche to the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Tuesday night. The Yellow Jackets came into the contest riding a three-match win streak, while the Redhawks had won their previous four. Unfortunately, it was La Roche that continued its winning ways by downing the host squad 3-1.

Things started well for the Jackets (4-4), who took the opening set 26-24. Waynesburg followed by building a 15-7 lead in set two and appeared poised to take a commanding 2-0 advantage. However, this proved to be a turning point to the match, as La Roche (5-2) embarked on a 9-1 run that tied the score at 16-16. The visiting team went on to take a 24-21 lead, before the Orange and Black tied things back up at 24-24. Unfortunately, La Roche scored the final two points to seal a 26-24 triumph and tie the match score at 1-1.

The final two sets belonged to the Redhwaks, which they took by the final tallies of 25-16 and 25-19, respectively.
