WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan.17) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team fell 74-49 to Westminster College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown Tuesday night at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
The Yellow Jackets (3-12, 2-9) came out of the gates strong and held an early 6-0 lead at the 6:39 mark of the opening quarter as senior
Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) and freshman
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) each notched 3 points. The Titans (10-6, 8-4) closed the quarter on a 17-4 run and outscored Waynesburg 34-17 for the remainder of the half to hold a 34-23 lead at the break.
The Jackets played the fourth quarter evenly at 13-13, but Westminster unfortunately put the game out of reach by outscoring the Jackets 27-13 in the third quarter.
Mohrbacher added to her stellar freshman campaign with game highs in points (18) and rebounds (11) in route to her second collegiate double-double. She also tied for the game high with three steals. The multi-sport standout has produced eight double-digit rebound performances on the season and is currently fifth in the PAC in rebounds per game (8.4).
Tori Wesolowski (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) added 8 points and three rebounds while Wolf pitched in 7 points and a trio of boards on the night.
The Yellow Jackets return to action this Saturday for a 1 p.m. PAC showdown with Bethany.
