GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 26) -- The Waynesburg University wrestling team dropped a close 26-22 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) dual versus Thiel College Friday night on Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium.

The Yellow Jackets (1-18, 0-3) were in a 12-0 hole from the start as they did not weigh in a wrestler at 125 or 133 pounds. The Tomcats (4-0, 2-0) grew their lead to 17-0 with a technical fall at 141 pounds.

Cole Homet (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) turned the tide in the Jackets' favor as he notched a 17-5 tech. fall (3:54) at 149 to get the Jackets on the board. Homet improved his overall record to 10-1 with his fourth tech. fall of the season.

Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) added his fourth tech. fall of the year at 157 pounds to narrow the Jackets' deficit to 8 at 17-9. Jacob Wilson (Wills Point, Texas / Princeton) pulled the Jackets within 5 after his 4-1 decision at 165.

After a Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) win by forfeit at 174 gave the visitors an 18-17 edge, Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) improved his overall season mark to 26-10 with an 11-2 major decision at 184 to give Waynesburg a 22-17 advantage.

Unfortunately, the Tomcats took the 197-pound bout with a 9-3 decision over Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) and sealed the 26-22 win at 285 as the Jackets did not weigh in a wrestler at heavyweight.

The Yellow Jackets return to the mat next Saturday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. when they compete at the John Summa Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace University.
