WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (November 23) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team had four wrestlers log top-six finishes at the Penn College Invitational on Saturday.
Waynesburg finished seventh of eight teams at the event with 33 points. The Jackets entered wrestlers in four weight classes at the event.
The Jackets had two wrestlers place in the heavyweight bracket.
Austin Fleming (Parkersburg, W. Va. / Parkersburg) went 3-1 and finished as the runner-up at 285 pounds. He recorded two major decisions and a pin to reach the title bout. He finished second after being defeated via fall in the second period of the title match against Castleton's Alaq Dowd-Grant.
Caleb Snype (Baltimore, Md. / Howard) notched a pair of pins to roll into the 285 semifinals. He exited the bracket via medical forfeit and forfeited the third-place match to finish fourth.
Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) finished fourth in the 157-pound bracket. He advanced to the semifinals with 6-3 and 7-4 victories in the championship bracket. He was stopped in the semifinals 12-5 before being edged 7-5 in the third place match.
Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) placed sixth at 197 with a 2-2 day. He notched a major decision and an 10-8 decision in the consolation bracket to reach the fifth-place bout. He settled for sixth after a second period fall.
Kevin Willis (Donora, Pa. / Ringgold) went 1-2 on the day in the 285-pound bracket.
The Jackets return to action at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Dec. 7.
