WAYNESBURG, Pa. (November 26) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team was outpaced by Bethany 99-77 in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Tuesday evening.
Waynesburg falls to 4-3 on the season and 0-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play. Bethany improves to 3-2, 2-0 PAC.
The Bison set offensive season highs across the board and never trailed in the ballgame. Bethany led 27-18 after the first quarter.
Waynesburg closed the second quarter on a 10-2 run to narrow the deficit to 48-45 going into the halftime break.
The Bison scored the first five points of the third quarter and led by at least five the rest of the way. Bethany led 67-56 at the end of the third and scored on its first 12 possessions of the fourth quarter to pull away. The Bison shot 12-of-14 from the field on their way to a 32-point fourth quarter.
Kara McFadden (Painesville, Ohio / Fairport Harding) led the Jackets with 20 points and matched a career-high with five made three-pointers.
Madisen Dayton (Ridgeley, W. Va. / Calvary Christian Academy) added 16 points and five rebounds.
Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) had 13 points and five boards.
The Jackets shot 44.1 percent from the field and made 10 threes at 38.5 percent. Bethany shot 57.4 percent for the game and drained 10 threes at 58.8 percent.
The Jackets travel to Chatham next Wednesday.
