WAYNESBURG, Pa. (November 8) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team romped to a 96-64 victory over Pitt-Greensburg in the Yellow Jackets' season opener at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

Waynesburg never trailed in the ballgame, had 15 players get on the score sheet and six Jackets finished with double-digit points. The Jackets scored at least 20 points in every quarter and outscored the Bobcats in all four periods.

Kara McFadden (Painesville, Ohio / Fairport Harding) led the way for the Jackets by scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Mia Henkins (Morgantown, W. Va. / Morgantown), Tori Wesolowski (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) and Kalista Friday (Woodsfield, Ohio / Monroe Central) each had 11 points. Julz Mohrbacher (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) added 10 points and 16 rebounds while Clara-Paige Miller (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) had 10 points in 10 minutes of action.

The season opener for both teams, the two teams combined for 49 fouls and 64 free throws on the night. Waynesburg shot 21-of-34 from the foul line and drained nine threes, while UPG made 22 free throws and four treys.

The Yellow Jacket bench accounted for 42 points and Waynesburg scored 40 points in the paint, 16 fast break points and 16 points off turnovers. Waynesburg won the rebounding margin 65-48 and finished plus-six in the turnover column (15-9).

The win was Waynesburg's first in a season opener since the 2016-17 season. The Jackets eclipsed 96 points just once last year, in a victory over Thiel.
