ADA, Ohio (December 7) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team finished 10th of 12 teams at the Ohio Northern Invitational and had two wrestlers place at the event.
Waynesburg concluded the invite with a total score of 42.5 points, just 1.5 back of ninth-place Ohio Wesleyan. Host No. 14 Ohio Northern took home the overall crown
Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) finished as the meet runner-up at 184 pounds. He went 3-1 on the day and was edged in a 4-2 decision by regionally ranked Ajay Locke of Ohio Northern. Orbin notched a tech fall and two decisions to reach the finals. He defeated regionally ranked Owen Frizzell 5-2 in the semifinal match.
Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) earned a sixth-place finish in the 157-pound bracket. He won three matches on the day, one by major decision and two by decision. He reached the consolation semifinals and was bested in the fifth-place match.
Caleb Snype (Baltimore, Md. / Howard) picked up a pair of pins in the heavyweight bracket before conceding a medical forfeit in the seventh place match.
Austin Fleming (Parkersburg, W. Va. / Parkersburg) also picked up a pair of wins at 285 pounds via fall and medical forfeit.
Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) and
AJ Tomaino (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) both went 1-2 on the day. Bishoff earned a 9-3 decision at 197 pounds and Tomaino earn a win by fall at 165.
The Jackets travel to Heidelberg's Kalahari Duals next Saturday.
