WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Feb.10) -- The Waynesburg University wrestling team topped Muskingum University 34-16 in a non-conference dual Saturday afternoon at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
The dual began at 141 pounds as the Muskies (1-9, 0-6 OAC) took a 4-0 lead after Aiden Johnson posted a 12-4 major decision over
Andrew Johnson (Southmoreland, Pa. / Southmoreland). The Jackets (2-18, 0-3 PAC) got on the board at 149 as
Cole Homet (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central) pinned Chris Davis in 1:29 to give Waynesburg a 6-4 lead.Â
Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) notched a 13-5 decision over Zeke Poulos to grow the Yellow Jackets' lead to 10-4 at 157.
Waynesburg's lead grew to 34-10 as
Jacob Wilson (Wills Point, Texas / Princeton),
Colby Morris (Waynesburg, Pa. / Waynesburg Central),
Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) and
Ayden Bishoff (Kingwood, W.Va. / Preston) all posted wins via forfeit. Dakota Tennant (285) and Hunter Heck (125) won by forfeit for the Muskies to spell the 34-16 final score.
Before the contest, the Yellow Jackets honored seniors
Kyle Hinerman (Liberty Borough, Pa. / South Allegheny) and Morris for their contributions to the program and Waynesburg University as a whole.Â
The Yellow Jackets hit the mat again next Friday at 5 p.m. for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships at Washington & Jefferson College.
