WAYNESBURG, Pa. (April 22) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team concluded its 2023-24 campaign with an 8-1 defeat to Carlow under the lights at the Bechtle Family Tennis Complex on Monday evening.
The Jackets end their season with a 1-12 record while Carlow concludes its year at 2-9.
Waynesburg collected its lone point of the match at No. 3 doubles with
Alli Bailey (Mount Pleasant, Pa. / Mount Pleasant) and
Aubrey Burns (Kittaning, Pa. / Armstrong) taking an 8-4 win.
Marley Wolf (Ellwood City, Pa. / Riverside) went to a super tiebreaker in the most competitive singles match of the contest at third singles. After dropping the first game 7-6 via a 9-7 tiebreaker, Wolf battled back to win the second set 7-5 before falling 10-8 in the super tiebreaker.
Julia Luzar (Washington, Pa. / Trinity) won five games in a defeat at No. 1 singles and
Karly Starcher (Williamston, W. Va. / St. Mary's) picked up seven games in a 6-4, 6-3 loss at second singles.
