MEADVILLE, Pa. (April 24) – The Waynesburg University softball team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader at first-place Allegheny on Wednesday afternoon. The Gators took a 7-0 win in game one and a 7-2 victory in game two.

Waynesburg falls to 18-15 on the season and 9-9 in PAC play. The Jackets fall into a tie for sixth place with Saint Vincent with two conference games remaining. Allegheny moves to 24-8 on the season and finishes conference play with a 15-5 record. The Gators are guaranteed a top-two seed in the PAC Tournament.

Game 1 – Allegheny 7, Waynesburg 0

Allegheny starting pitcher Aleya Belardinelli spun a one-hit shutout in the opening game of the doubleheader.

Breanna Rice (Morgantown, W.Va. / Morgantown) notched the Jackets' lone hit of the ballgame to lead off the fifth inning.

The Gators swatted a three-run home run in the first inning, added another run with a bases loaded hit batter and tacked on three more in the fourth.

Trinity Edge (Franklin, Pa. / Franklin) worked two scoreless innings and struck out a pair in a relief appearance.

Game 2 – Allegheny 7, Waynesburg 2

The Jackets scored the first two runs of the nightcap with Kaitlyn Jagielski (Imperial, Pa. / West Allegheny) smacking an RBI single and another run coming home on an Allegheny error.

The Gators responded with three runs in the home half of the first with a run scoring on a groundout and two RBI doubles.

Allegheny's lead grew to 4-2 in the third as two errors on the same play allowed another run to score. The Gators added a two-run single and another tally on an error in the fifth to get to the final 7-2 margin.

Edge had three hits in the ballgame and did not allow a run in 1.1 innings in relief. Jagielski had two hits and the lone RBI on the day for Waynesburg.
