WAYNESBURG, Pa. (June 4) – Waynesburg University baseball players
Dalton Mount (Sykesville, Md. / Westminster) and
Lane Ours (Moorefield, W.Va. / Moorefield) repeated as Academic All-District Selections by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
Mount, a rising senior sports management major with a cumulative 3.61 grade-point average, led Waynesburg in hits (47), runs (34), walks (28), total bases (59) and stolen bases (17). He hit .297 for the season with one home run and 16 runs batted in. Mount notched 17 multi-hit games and ranked second in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) in walks and fourth in stolen bases.
Ours previously graduated from Waynesburg with a degree in exercise science and earned a master's of business administration with a 4.0 GPA this spring. Ours was tabbed as an All-PAC Honorable Mention this season after leading the Jackets with five home runs and a dozen extra-base hits. In league play, Ours hit a team-high .383 with a 1.118 OPS and 22 RBI. He reached base in 20-consecutive games and drove in multiple runs six times.
The Waynesburg baseball team tied its program record with 23 victories. The Jackets finished with a 15-5 PAC record to tie for second place in the conference standings and make their first appearance in the conference tournament since 2019.
CSC's Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, voted on by Athletic Communication professionals, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Select Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
