WAYNESBURG, Pa. (January 16) – The Waynesburg University men's wrestling team took on defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion Saint Vincent in the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Thursday night. The Bearcats earned a 41-12 victory.
Waynesburg falls to 0-2 in PAC duals while Saint Vincent is 1-0 against league foes.
Seth Evans (Sharon, Pa. / Sharon) climbed out of a 9-4 hole to win 11-10 with riding time as the deciding point at 165 pounds. He notched several takedowns in the final period to complete the comeback win.
Jessie Orbin (Houston, Pa. / Chartiers-Houston) rallied to a 9-2 sudden victory triumph at 184 pounds. Orbin and Ryan Weinzen went to a sudden victory period tied at two after Weinzen led 1-0 with an escape and secured a point via riding time and Orbin notched a reversal late in the third period. In the extra session, Orbin ended the match with a takedown and near fall.
Waynesburg added six points at 141 pounds as
Brayden Barbao (Donora, Pa. / Ringgold) won by disqualification following an illegal slam by his opponent.
